Yes! When you sign in to Copilot with your MacID@mcmaster email and password, you’ll be using it in PROTECTED mode. This mode ensures that your conversation data is safeguarded and not utilized for training a Large Language Model.
This feature is unique to users in the McMaster community and ensures information entered into Copilot does not travel beyond the bounds of your private chat.
To ensure the highest level of data security and personal protection, UTS strongly advises against sharing highly sensitive McMaster, personal, or health information with any AI or Generative AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Copilot, etc.).
Microsoft Copilot operates using sophisticated AI and natural language processing technologies. It understands and interprets user queries, providing relevant and accurate responses. By learning from interactions, Copilot continuously improves its ability to assist users, offering personalized support that evolves over time to better meet your needs.
It’s important to note that with every new Copilot interaction (new chat), the tool starts from a “clean slate” with no prior knowledge or experience. To better understand how to make Copilot work for you, users must create specific and detailed prompts for Copilot to perform at its best. Discover how to create the best Copilot prompts.
