Good afternoon,

As you may be aware, McMaster is making changes to your email and calendaring service in the coming weeks. Faculty, staff, retirees, and medical learners will transition to McMaster Mail (powered by Microsoft 365), which has many benefits including additional storage! We expect minimal interruption to your email service, and our team is committed to supporting you every step of the way. 

This notice is to advise that you will be migrated to the new email service at the same time as your associated department, rather than with the broader retiree community. Retirees other than Emeritus Professors will be migrated as a separate group, later this summer. Emeritus Professors will receive detailed communications at the same time as their respective faculty departments.

This decision to Emeritus Professors alongside the colleagues they currently collaborate with at McMaster has been made to ensure that those Emeritus Professors who wish to do so will be able to collaborate with their departmental colleagues using Microsoft 365.

What to expect:

• Your email address will not change.  You will continue to send and receive emails from your current McMaster email address.
• You will receive a notification about your scheduled migration two weeks, one week, and one day before this change.
• Your migration to the new email service will occur between 8:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m. on your scheduled migration date.
• We recommend that you do not access your account between 8:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m. on your scheduled migration date. Messages received during that time will continue to be directed to your account and will be available the next time you log on after the migration.

This notice is being sent only to McMaster University retirees who have a MacMail email account.

Good morning/afternoon,

As you may be aware, McMaster is making changes to your email and calendaring service this spring. Faculty, staff, medical learners, and retirees will transition to the Microsoft 365 email and calendaring solution.

All retiree accounts will be migrated between July – August 2020. You will receive detailed communications before this change is made to your account and we expect minimal interruption to your email service. Our team is committed to supporting you every step of the way.  

This new email and calendaring solution has many features and benefits including storage (50GB); reliable integration with mobile devices; enhanced security; and a user-friendly browser interface.

What to expect:

• You will receive a notification about your scheduled migration two weeks, one week, and one day before this change.
• This migration to the cloud will occur between 8:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m.
• You will be able to access your email via any browser (i.e. Internet Explorer, Chrome etc.), via Outlook software on your PC or Mac, and via other mail clients on your PC, Mac and mobile devices (i.e. Apple Mail, Android, iOS).

How to prepare:

• If you access your email via web browser, there are no changes you need to make before the migration.
• If you would like to access your McMaster email via Outlook software on your PC or Mac, it will be important to use Outlook 2013 (at minimum) for the best functionality.
